Dignus, LLC releases new mainframe C compiler

Raleigh, NC 27615-- Dignus, LLC announced today that their premier C compiler for IBM mainframes and compatible machines, Systems/C, will be available as of June 1st, 1999. Systems/C is the first C compiler on the Market to directly support features making systems programming easier and more productive.

Systems/C is a complete ANSI C compiler, with additional features that support systems programming. Systems/C generates assembly language source instead of object decks, allowing it to support direct in-line assembly source, sharing variables and values with assembly source. Systems/C allows the programmer to specify their own prologue/epilogue macros and base register for generating assembly source that can be incorporated into existing assembly language programs. Systems/C supports AR-MODE programming with the __far and __based pointer C extensions. Systems/C is also provided as a cross-platform compiler, running on Windows, FreeBSD, LINUX and Solaris, producing 390 assembly source. Systems/C supports a C/370 compatible mode bringing many of its systems programming features to C/370 programs, and providing a cross-platform C/370 compatible compiler.

"It's clear that [mainframe] systems programmers have been trying for years to take advantage of high-level languages," said Dave Rivers, President of Dignus, LLC. "Systems/C provides them with that avenue - bringing the power of C to bear on their problems without dragging in the overhead of an entire C library. We are very pleased to be offering a product that will make systems programming easier and more reliable."

Systems/C requires OS/390 V2R4, FreeBSD 3.1, RedHat Linux 5.2, or SunOS 5.7 for its host platform. Either the IBM High Level Assembler, or Tachyon Software's "Tachyon 390 Cross Assembler" assemblers are suitable to assemble the generated source.

Systems/C is licensed on an annual basis. Annual license fees for cross platform hosts are on a per-user basis. Systems/C can be ordered directly from Dignus, LLC. Dignus, LLC is located in Raleigh NC 27615, 919/676-0847, fax 919/676-0847, Internet sysc@dignus.com or http://www.dignus.com.
