Raleigh, NC - May 6, 2004: Dignus, LLC announces the 1.75 release of Systems/C and Systems/C++

Version 1.75 of Systems/C and Systems/C++ brings innovative improvements and enhancements to the mainframe programming environment. The PLINK utility is now not only a pre-linker, but can accomplish the linking task, directly producing load-modules on a workstation host. The Systems/C runtime library has been significantly enhanced to provide UNIX portability for 31-bit and 64-bit programs, and to allow these programs to run under OpenEdition(tm). Furthermore, this release continues to enhance the fundamental Dignus compiler technology with performance and compatibility improvements.

"Local Linking"

• PLINK has been enhanced to directly produce load modules on cross-platform hosts, using the TSO transmit format. This PLINK capability is a major step in ease-of-use for the developer, avoiding interaction with the mainframe to create executable load modules.

Library and Run-time Enhancements

• Support for executing 31-bit and 64-bit Systems/C, C++ programs under OpenEdition/USS.
• Over 130 new HFS, I/O and POSIX/UNIX functions and related system headers easing portability of UNIX programs.
• 67 new ANSI C99 and other string related functions including wide character and multi-byte support and the related ANSI C99 #include files.
• I/O performance improvements including improved seek performance and I/O buffer management.

Compiler Enhancements:

• Code generation enhancements for improved runtime performance.
• Systems/C has been enhanced to support compiling sources in codepage #500.
• Improved compatibilty with other environments including GCC, Microsoft, SAS/C and IBM C.
